Understanding The Transition from Child to Adult
Helen offers therapy and counseling for families struggling with a teenager to a young adult transition. Family therapy can help “translate” what is said by parents to teens, and what is said by teens to parents. All ages of teens are recommended to attend therapy with their parents or caregivers. Sometimes, the young adults that are still living at home have issues within the family system, or teenagers may simply need an understanding adult outside the family to discuss emotional pain/relational difficulties.
Whether the teen/young adult is first seen alone or with their parents, family therapy is highly recommended for communication difficulties. Often a part of growing up and becoming more independent (or possibly the need therein) communication, through therapy, aids in discovering what is best for whom.
