Family Counseling Sessions:
Family counseling is most successful if as many family members within the household can attend therapy. Family therapy is also recommended outside the nuclear family system, which would include extended family members. A prime example of this type of therapy would be offered for someone in the family who needs an intervention for substance use or addictions, to assist the identified patient with the acuity of their addiction and/or the need for inpatient treatment.
As Helen is a resource professional, each client’s issue may need triage or the communication and recommendations from other professionals that aid with the client or family members, for example, a client mandated to treatment. Every member of the nuclear family system becomes affected adversely when one person becomes sick, either from substance use or mental disorders.
